Temple Israel Youth/Family Programs

Religious School

Religious School meets on Sunday mornings from 9:30am to 11:30am for children in Pre-Kindergarten through grade 6.  Students have the opportunity to learn about many aspects of Judaism, always with an emphasis on their personal connection to God and the Jewish community through study and celebration.  All students attend worship services.  Art, music, and cooking are integral parts of our Religious School Program.

Tot Holidays

Tot Holidays is our Religious School program for parents with their children, ages two and three.  The class meets six Sundays from 9:45am to 11:15 am over the course of the school year and each session focuses on a Jewish holiday or theme.  These are hands-on workshops which will include crafts, stories, music, and lots of fun.

Children/Youth Services

  • TOT Shabbat - This BYO Picnic Dinner and Service is held on the first Friday of the month at 6:00 p.m. either outside or in the muscle room. Families with young children are encouraged to bring a "picnic" dinner and then experience a Shabbat Service filled with laughter, stories and song, led by our educator and one of our rabbis.

  • Shabbat Family Service - SHABBAT B'SHIR (Shabbat in Song) On the second Friday of the month, this musical service is geared for a multi-generational congregation. Led by our rabbis, educator, and young lay leaders, this is a participatory service for people of all ages and levels of Jewish learning. Come ready to sing, play an instrument, listen to stories, and learn something new!
  • High Holy Day worship - On the evenings of the High Holy Days as well as on Yom Kippur afternoon, these classical, formal worship services use the Reform movement's "Gates of Repentance" prayer book. Temple Israel's morning, intergenerational services are accompanied by guitar, drums, and piano and use our newly created prayer books. A young Children's Service is also offered at this time for those with preschool age children. Early elementary children are welcome at both services.
