The Facility
The bright and cheerful facility at Deutsch Early Childhood Center of Temple Israel offers an environment that is stimulating, fun, and safe for children. In addition to wonderful classrooms, the facility includes a sensational indoor Muscle Room designed to enhance gross motor skills, a large exciting outdoor play area with bike path, a newly remodeled art room, a library, and a security system for added protection.
Since 1985, The Deutsch Early Childhood Center has been certified by the prestigious Missouri Board of Voluntary Accreditation for Early Childhood Education as a preschool adhering to the highest standards of early childhood education.
Our staff is composed of teachers and specialists with many years of early childhood experience. The Project Construct curriculum promotes learning and development by engaging children in activities that inspire experimentation and stimulate them to recognize new problems and invent new solutions. Emphasis is placed on developing positive self-esteem through a wide variety of hands-on activities which encourage play, develop natural curiosity and stimulate creative thinking.
An atmoshere of empathy and acceptance of feelings is stressed. It promotes cooperation among the children themselves and between children and adults. The early childhood framework is designed so educators can plan, shape, and create learning environments to facilitate the development of the whole child – cognitive, social, and physical.

The children begin their Jewish education through interaction with our rabbis and cantor and the celebration of Jewish holidays with songs, prayers, and feasts. Active parental involvement and open communication between school and home are encouraged.

Parent Volunteer Opportunities
The DECC Parent’s Committee helps support the director, the teachers, the children, and the other parents. Any parent of a child enrolled at DECC may participate on the committee. Activities include organizing fundraisers, serving as room parents, facilitating the school library, promoting social action projects, honoring teachers at an appreciation luncheon, and providing caring support to all DECC families. Parents may also assist in the classroom during holiday feasts, special projects such as baking hamantashen or latkes, or serve as a “Shabbat Parent” on a Friday morning.
